The Most Awkward Celebrity Interviews
Words: Violet
The celebrity interview. Be they funny, charming and friendly, it can go so right. The interviewer and the audience come away with a sense of endearment and sweet appreciation for their favourite stars. This, of course, is the best case scenario. What can also ensue, is pure, unadulterated awkwardness.
Whether it can be blamed on the boredom of having to sit through a day of press junkets, having a bad day, a bad interviewer or a bad attitude; sometimes an interview can just go so wrong. Well, for them at least. For us it is hours of hilarious viewing.
Russell Brand and MSNBC’s Morning Joe
Like him or loathe him, there is no denying that Russell Brand can hold his own in interviews. In this particular one, Russell takes complete control leaving the news anchor team in an embarrassing shamble.
The Bee Gees and Clive Anderson
The determination of whose side to be on in this celebrity interview is not an easy one to make. It is littered with sly remarks and you can tell that there might be hostility in the air. This, of course, becomes all the more obvious when 2 of the Bee Gees walk off at the end. When this does happen, Clive Anderson’s face is an absolute picture.
Meg Ryan and Michael Parkinson
The fact that Meg Ryan is on the edge of tears and clearly wants to be anywhere else in the world than where she is, does nothing to dissuade Parkinson from drilling her about her insecurities. Awkward.
Chris Stark and Jennifer Aniston
Jennifer Aniston doesn’t know quite how to handle BBC Radio 1’s Chris Stark. But at least she got a Watford shirt out of it.
James Brown and CNN,
We’re not sure but is James Brown involved in a bet for how many of his own song lyrics he can get into an interview?
Bruce Willis and Magic 105.4
Budding actors gather round. If you want advice and tips on how to breeze through press interviews with ease and charm. Don’t watch this interview with Bruce Willis.
Tom Cruise and Matt Lauer
Matt Lauer thinks his is going to discuss War of the Worlds. Little does he know he will actually be discussing the history of psychiatry, Brooke Shields and drugging children. Right.
Tom Cruise and Oprah ,
One of the most famous awkward celebrity interviews of all time. In the world of Tom Cruise, jumping on a sofa in front of Oprah proclaims intense love.
Quentin Tarentino and Kron4 News ,
Tarentino’s films aren’t for everyone. Including this news anchor from Kron4 News.
