Wine of The Week – ‘R’ de Ruinart NV Champagne

In our view the champagne house of Ruinart is arguably the best champagne house of all. It has been said that those who really know about champagne drink Ruinart.

Although one of the lesser well known brands, Ruinart was in-fact the very first champagne house to be established in 1729 and also received a Royal decree by Louis XV. The champagne house itself has to be one of the most impressive with its eight kilometers of chalk tunnels that were dug nearly 2000 years ago. It is here where the taste of Ruinart is made so special with the perfect aging temperature of 11 degrees and a humidity of 90%.

The Ruinart Non-Vintage Champagne has a perfectly dry element whilst still remaining to be fresh and fruity. On the nose it gives off aroma’s of pear hazelnut and almonds, and has notes of butter and sweet pastries that are typical of the chardonnary grape.
