Wine For The Weekend – Three Top Offers

The Journal takes a look a three top tipples that are sure to be a hit this summer.

Château Saint Roch-les-Vignes Côtes de Provence 2010, In our view no one does Rosé wine better than the region of Provence in the South of France. This Château Saint Roch-les-Vignes 2010 Côtes de Provence embodies everything you would expect from a vineyard located near St Tropez. It is a deliciously dry and crisp rosé with a refreshing finish, perfect for summer barbeques and great with fish and salads. In fact this wine is great by its own. £6.99 majestic.co.uk

Louis Roederer Brut Premier NV Champage, Louis Roederer is one of the most famous Champagne houses in the world. It was established in the nineteenth century and is still family-owned today. Its most famous label, the prestige cuvee ‘Cristal’ has been rather damaged in the last decade thanks to footballers and the like spraying it around the place and not appreciating it for what it is, a fantastic Champagne. Therefore if you don’t want to be associated with this image, or in most peoples case you don’t have budget, then the Roederer Brut Premier is a serious non-vintage Champagne for you. It is deliciously rich with an overt fruitiness and has nutty, yeasty notes. The finish is long, complex and rewarding. Although this is often referred to as one of the finest non-vintage champagnes in the press, at this price don’t take our word for it, give it a go yourself. On Offer at £27 majestic.co.uk

Côtes du Rhône 2009 Vidal-Fleury, From the vineyard of the Guigal family, this Côtes du Rhône is made using traditional techniques with modern equipment. With brilliant colour and bramble fruits and heady spice on the nose, this is a classic Rhône. It has a medium-bodied palate that has snappy red fruit surrounded by persistent tannins. This wine is great with strong meals, such as sausage and mash or a hardy casserole. Saying that it is pretty dam good with a steak too. £8.99 majestic.co.uk
