Three cracking bargain wines to enjoy this weekend.

2011 Ackerman Chenin Blanc, Vin de Pays. Du Val de Loire, France, Chenin blanc is often pushed aside buy the likes of sauvignon and chardonnay, however it is now time to get it into the wine rack. It makes for a perfect everyday wine, that is almost too drinkable. Perfect for summer BBQ’s with its off-dry character. Notes include baked apple with a zesty lemon finish. Serve cold in order to appreciate its lively punch. £5.79 waitrose.com

2011 Coquille d’Oc Blanc, Pays d’Oc, Domaine de Sainte Rose, France, This wine from ex pats Charles and Ruth Simpson is a crisp, lively and easy drinking white, that is perfect for the summer, as well as a seriously good buy. Charles and Ruth have produced a run of Top 100-approved wines, and this one is know different. This wine has sauvignon blanc, viognier and bit of Muscat. The notes are ones of lemon zest, spiked fruits and it also has floral elements too. From £7.29 down to £5.79 until August 14th waitrose.com

2011 Macon-Villages, Chardonnay, Cave de Lugny, France, This white burgundy is one of our favorites, and although it is not quite under £6, however at £7.49, it is still very good value. A beautiful unoaked wine made from mature 30-year old chardonnay vines, and with its dry but fruity aspects, it is the perfect partner to fish and summer salads. £7.49 waitrose.com
