Here’s what you should be packing for Wilderness Festival
Our comprehensive guide of the gadgets, gear and get-up that you shouldn’t leave for Wilderness without...
Words: Anna Galbraith
The countdown is now well and truly on for our favourite festival of the year, as Wilderness returns to the Oxfordshire countryside from 1-4 August — bringing with it an incredible musical line-up and a jam packed events calendar. And, if you’ve been keeping up to date with our seasonal guides, you’ll have everything from your hot weather wardrobe to your summer skincare routine mastered ahead of the big weekend.
But, when you’re scaling down your supplies into a festival-friendly capsule collection, it can be difficult to know which essentials to prioritise. Fortunately, we know our way around this particular patch of grass, and are on hand with a comprehensive guide of the gadgets, gear and get-up that you shouldn’t leave for Wilderness without.
Catch the sun: Aesop Protective Body Lotion SPF50
We’re usually so surprised when the sun finally comes out that we forget to sunscreen up. And, while the most worrying part about burning is the health concerns, the bright red look isn’t great either.
Don’t forget, that once you’re inside the festival, you’ll be hard pressed to find a shop selection of the best SPF creams on offer. So, to avoid any embarrassment, get yourself a good sunscreen – such as this SPF 50 from Aesop – which will keep you smelling great as well as protecting your skin.

Cap it off: Lock & Co. Hatters Rimini Linen Baseball Cap
Wilderness might be one of the festival calendar highlights, but it’s not the place to bring your full carnival outfit or sequinned hot pants (we know you were tempted). For a nod to a more relaxed dress code, that will also keep you protected from the sunshine, keep a baseball cap handy in your weekend bag.
Lock & Co Hatters might be the oldest shop of its kind – it’s famed for keeping Mr Charlie Chaplin and Sir Winston Churchill in bowlers and top hats – but it applies its generations of expertise to more modern styles too. This Rimini baseball cap is expertly crafted from linen, so it’s a smart choice for summer.

Let the music play on…
Even long after the music has died on the main stage, there’s no reason you can’t keep the party going back at your boutique camping site. We all have our personal favourite summer anthems every year. And, whatever they may be, you need a piece of kit hardy enough to play them through. Bang & Olufsen’s Beoplay A1 is perfect for the job.
Its well-rounded shape makes the speaker easy to store in your bag, slip into a pocket or carry by the leather strap. The aluminium grill and double-moulded polymer base, meanwhile, forms a strong protective shell that makes the speaker splash, dust and sand resistant.

Dry off: Frescobol Carioca Stripe Linen Beach Towel
One of the highlights every year at Wilderness is heading for a dip in the river. But, when the time comes to sidle up to the restaurant for dinner, you don’t want to be dripping into your ice cold beer. Instead, dry off with this linen beach towel.
Lightweight, sophisticated and designed with the seasonal hues of this summer’s beach collections, Frescobol Carioca’s linen offering is ideal to throw in your bag.

Say cheese: Leica Q Silver Anodised Camera
Finally, you’ll want something to document your day. Be it a Daniel Craig-style shot of yourself emerging from the river, or a capture of your favourite band on stage — there’s nothing better than a Leica camera.
And, this Q Silver Anodised design is the perfect choice for capturing all the moments that are sure to turn your Instagram followers green with envy.
