How to wear Orange this Autumn
Words: Holly
You’d be forgiven for thinking that orange was the reserve of young children, halloween costumes and the Dutch, but this season sees orange is one of the hottest trends on the street. From burnt umber to tangerine and coral, whatever you want to call it, it’s set to be everywhere come Autumn. A far cry from the browns, neutrals and greens that this colour trend was up against back in January at LC:M, this isn’t the easiest colour to wear, it takes confidence, so let us guide you through this autumn trend and you can decide yourselves if you’re brave enough to take join the terracotta army.
FROM THE RUNWAY…
ALL OUT
, (From left to right: Tom Ford, Prada, Vivienne Westwood) For the truly bold and brave among you this is by far the strongest and most direct way to pull off the trend – either ditch your navy suit and go for orange. Alternatively, the more slightly wearable way of wearing this look as seen at Tom Ford, is to pair orange separates with contrasting hues of the same colour.
THE STATEMENT
, (From left to right: DSquared, Hardy Amies, Christopher Kane) If you’re looking to stand out from the crowd, but don’t see yourself walking into dinner party dressed head to toe in tangerine, then take a leaf out of the book of Hardy Amies and dress a pair of orange chinos with dove grey for an elegant take on this trend.
JUST A HINT
, (From left to right: Fendi, Louis Vuitton, Burberry) Those of you who like to make a subtle nod to new trends without going overboard, then opt for just hint of orange. We suggested taking inspiration from Fendi and pair an orange shirt under muted earthy layers, or throw a scarf over your shoulder a la Burberry.
