The Balvenie Thirty, Aged 30 Years
Words: Gentleman's Journal

Balvenie Scottish whiskey is unique, as it’s craft has not changed over century’s. The first spirit to come from Balvenie was on May Day back in 1893, so there is no denying that they know what they are doing, and this is shown by it’s smooth finish. The Balvenie Thirty (shown above) is a rare malt that is aged for Thirty years in American oak and sherry casks. After it’s long an patient wait, the Balvenie Malt Master, by the name of David Stewart, who celebrates his 50th year (making him the longest serving Malt Master in the industry), selects only the best casks.
The Balvenie Thirty rolls across the palette with a dark chocolate and sticky marzipan flavour. On the nose, it has tones of honey, oak and orange peel. The finish is the highlight, with an exceptional smoothness and lingering sweetness. Definitely one for the cabinet. thebalvenie.com
