We Like – Nyetimber, Blanc De Blancs 2007
Words: Gentleman's Journal

For those of you who haven’t yet heard of Nyetimber sparkling wine, it’s the English vineyard that is giving the French a run for their money. Nyetimber were in fact the true pioneers of English sparkling wines, being the very first producer and planting their first vines all the way back in 1988.
Today the house has had worldwide acclaim and is regarded as one of England’s finest wine producers. Each bottle produced is made from one hundred percent estate-grown grapes, all of which are picked by hand. Each vineyard was selected to be south-facing with either sandy or chalk soils, similar in composition to those found in Champagne.
The 2007 Blanc De Blancs vintage is one of our favourites and is made using 100% Chardonnay grapes. The result is a lovely pale straw-yellow colour sparkling wine with a rich nose of Bergamots Philadelphus, combined with granny smith apples and finished with citrus fruits. nyetimber.com
