We like – Elton John vs Pnau, Good Morning to the Night

Elton John says he was in a Sydney record shop when he picked up an album by Pnau. He thought it was the best thing he’d heard in long time, so he signed them to his management company Rocket Records. Elton was such a fan of their work; he gave them free rein to shape his expansive back catalogue between 1970 and 1976 into a new remixed album.

Remixed albums are usually a desperate attempt of involving a more contemporary rhythm to tracks that don’t need them in the first place. However this one, Good Morning to the Night, is an exception.

The results are incredible. All eight tracks have an original feel to them. Pnau seems to have found a perfect balance between the classic magic of Elton John fused with a modern cosmic disco vibe.

The title track is already a big club hit; it’s a re-imagination of Elton’s Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters. This one will make it to the top of the charts. You heard it here first…

The album is set to release on the 16th £7.99 itunes.com
