Breitling have launched a brand new Navitimer Cosmonaute to celebrate the 50th anniversary of pioneer Scott Carpenter’s space conquest.

On May 24th 1962, Scott Carpenter orbited the earth three times aboard the Aurora 7 capsule. On his wrist was the Navitimer Cosmonaute, which meant that Breitling had won the watch space race becoming the first chronograph to travel in space. This watch was incredibly useful to carpenter due to its 24-hour graduation, that enabled him to distinguish between night and day.

The New version of this iconic watch will feature a 100% in house movement, and Breitling will only produce a limited number of 1,962, thus ensuring its long term value. In terms of styling it will remain much the same in tribute to the original. It will still feature the engraved Aurora 7 Insignia on the caseback, as well as its manual winding. This is a must have for anyone that is serious about watches. £6,060 breitling.com
