Watches – the panerai luminor 1950 regatta

The Gentlemans Journal Panerai

There’s no chance of mistaking this for anything other than a proper man’s watch. To give it its full title, the Panerai Luminor 1950 Regatta 3 Days Chrono Flyback Titanio, is damn exciting. It’s a watch for a sailor, as you may have gathered from the inclusion of the word ‘regatta’ in its title. To that end it comes with a regatta countdown, and a knots scale so you can calculate how fast your boat is travelling.

It’s water resistant, obviously, up to a depth of 100 metres. It’s got an anti-reflective coating, so you can wear it in the beating sun and still see its glorious face. It also has a three-day power reserve. It’s stylish, sexy and a little bit dangerous – a perfect sportsman’s watch.

But here’s the rub. This Panerai would look equally swish with a business suit as on a yacht.
