Long time sponsor of the Le Mans Classic, Richard Mille, have created a special edition watch in honour of the famous race. Their fourth Le Mans Classic themed watch, the RM030, is arguably the most impressive yet, featuring intricate detailing and an expert finish that you would expect from the esteemed Swiss brand.
Richard Mille have a solid motorsport heritage and they currently sponsor the Lotus Formula 1 team as well as their young star driver, Romain Grosjean. The timepieces the company produce feature the same precision that you might associate with a world-class race driver too. It seems only natural then that they would produce another watch in honour of the 7th annual Le Mans Classic, a race in which some of the most celebrated racers of all time compete for glory.
The watch itself is quintessentially Richard Mille in design, but it features a number of details that reference the motorsport event in which it is dedicated to. Much like if you were to open the bonnet of a vintage race car, the watch features exposed mechanicals, allowing you to be constantly involved in the beauty of its movement. A 24 hours display at the 2 o’clock marker includes the number ‘16’, which references the depart time of the endurance race and of course, the colours inside the movement of the watch are the same as that of the historic race. Limited to only 100 pieces, the RM030 also includes some innovative tech, including an automatic winding caliber that prevents overwinding, a declutchable rotor with variable geometry and free sprung balance with variable inertia. Impressive from both a design and a specification standpoint, the Richard Mille RM030 Le Mans Classic is a watch that will – like the race it honours – stand the test of time.
