It’s the long awaited, inspirational, combined creation from Swiss watchmakers and perfectionists, Chopard, and Milan based luxury car bodywork designers, Zagato; The “Chopard Mille Miglia Zagato Chronograph!”

Half timepiece half car, disappointingly this watch cannot be driven, it’s 0-60mph statistics are quite poor, and unfortunately it’s fuel consumption cannot be measured in miles per gallon; regardless of these statistics, once you have given up hunting for the ignition, the Mille Miglia Zagato Chronograph lets us into it’s historical heritage that has propelled it onto the production line today.

The Chopard brand has always been family owned, as has Zagato, and for centuries, passion for car racing has flowed through the generations. For the past twenty five years, Chopard has been the official timekeeper for the Mille Miglia car race in Italy. This is where the special bond between Chopard and Zagato was born. Karl-Friedrich Scheufeule, President of Chopard met Andrea Zagato at this famous event and decided to join the essence of their companies to create a masterpiece.

Chopard watches have always been inspired by cars and racing, steel and sporty is a motto used frequently, while Zagato shares a similar mission statement: “functional, sleek, yet rationalist.” Their designs on grand tourers made by Ferrari and Aston Martin captured the combination of sport and luxury that Chopard craved, resulting in the birth of the very limited Mille Miglia Zagato Chronograph.

Now down to the nitty gritty, The Mille Miglia Zagato comes with two options. The first is a DLC coated steel 42.5mm watch, while the second comes with a rose gold bezel, with red dial inserts. The prices range from £5000, to £5600. Both watches contain Chopard’s flawless self winding, Chronograph movement, and in our opinion, this watch is a bargain for the heritage and expertise incorporated in it’s creation.

Sadly only 1000 of the Mille Miglia Zagato Chronographs have been made, 500 in steel and 500 in rose gold, so, if we have caught your eye, time is of the essence!
