The Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH) is an exclusive event and one of the most important in the watch world’s calendar. Taking place annually in January, SIHH kicks off the new year in style, welcoming 16 of the world’s finest watchmakers including Vacheron Constantin, A. Lange & Sohne, Audemars Piguet, Jaeger-LeCoultre and more.
Geneva plays host to this one-of-a-kind affair, which welcomes over 12,500 guests, journalists and brand representatives every year. It’s not open to the public, but thanks to extensive online coverage, watch enthusiasts can experience the latest releases and intricate creations in more ways than ever before. When January rolls around, SIHH will be entering its 25th year, marking an enormous milestone for the exclusive event, which sees 30,000 sq m transformed into a watch haven for the industry’s elite.
This year a number of exciting watch releases have already been announced. Here are some of the pieces we’re most exciting about seeing in the metal.
CARTIER ROTONDE DE CARTIER REVERSED TOURBILLON

This incredible piece is set to be one of the most special watches to be unveiled just before SIHH. Its solid 18-carat white gold, sunburst dial combined with the off-set mini dial and exposed tourbillon makes for a stunning work of art.

IWC PORTUGIESER ANNUAL CALENDAR

The Portugieser Annual Calendar is IWC’s first ever annual calendar timepiece. It features the all-new IWC-manufactured 52850 calibre movement, which is innovative in itself as it offers an impressive 7-day power reserve. Its name is also worth noting too, as this is what the Portuguese family was originally called when it was first unveiled. Celebrating its 75th anniversary in 2015, the Portugieser family is covering new ground for IWC, whilst simultaneously honouring their illustrious heritage.

A. LANGE & SOHNE SAXONIA

The German watchmakers have redesigned one of their most esteemed lines. Masters of elegantly designed, endlessly opulent timepieces, A. Lange & Sohne haven’t veered too far away from what made the Saxonia line so iconic though. The clean, simple lines remain, as do the regimentally precise hands, hour markers and slim lugs.

CARTIER ROTONDE DE CARTIER ANNUAL CALENDAR 40MM

Whilst the annual calendar version of the Rotonde has been in production for a good few years, its 45mm case size has, perhaps rightly, put some off. Whilst it was undoubtedly a stunning piece, many would argue that it was simply too large. This new 40mm version though makes the already beautiful design an even more enticing proposition.

When Baume & Mercier released their Clifton line it received plenty of praise for its classic looks and surprising affordability. A number of iterations have since been developed and this is the latest with its dominating date window and power reserve indicator at 6 o’clock.
