Deciding on just five of our favourite sports watches was a tough decision – but the final five that still have our minds ticking are as follows…
Lets dive right in with this Oris Aquis Depth Gauge timepiece. Oris are renowned for developing specialist diving watches and this edition is no exception. It’s innovative, stylish and is more than capable of meeting your diving needs. The Oris Aquis Depth Gauge watch incorporates the Boyle’s law of pressure related to gas volume – so for those who need a slight reminder of what this means – as a the diver goes deeper, the reading on a scale will change in relation to the depth from light to dark grey.

Next up is the Tudor Fastrider Black Shield. This new automatic chronograph model demonstrates the unique and distinctive relationship between Tudor and Ducati. Measuring 42mm wide, the red on matte black style and monolithic, scratchproof ceramic case is modern, bold and certainly caught our attention. The crown and chronograph pushers are steel and the ceramic case provides a beautiful finish. The alternative option of the tan alcantra strap with the bronze/black colour combination demonstrates Tudor’s skill with colour – a decision that will leave you torn.

The Links of London Chicane chronograph watch gets our vote with its unique dial design, curved sapphire crystal glass and the black and red bezel – it is understated, stylish and modern. The watch reflects an element of vintage racing which is beautifully contrasted with the brushed and polished stainless steel strap to make it both fresh looking and suitable for all sporting activities. The Chicane watch will be a timeless piece to own and will suit any occasion.

Chopard’s Superfast Driver’s watch also encompasses the sports driver within you. Word is, these pieces will have the new ‘industrialised’ in-house movements. There are three different models available: Superfast Automatic, Superfast Chrono and Superfast Power Control. They are inspired by Chopard’s partnership with legendary car races such as The Grand Prix de Monaco Historique and represent how the design of classic cars, such as the Aston Martin and Ferrari, have evolved over time. Both bold and unique, they come in rose gold or steel and have a steering wheel logo on the crown, with a rubber strap that looks similar to a slick racing-tire.

Last but certainly not least, the Patek Philippe Aquanaut Travel Time 5164A – not your average casual sports watch. It has a dual time zone mechanism that indicates the local and home time via a fourth hand. The great news – especially if you travel a lot, is that not only is the watch understated and elegant, but the independent GMT hand can be adjusted by the left hand-side pushers on the device, meaning that there is no fuss or complication, hurrah! To top it all off – the black embossed dial and gold applied numerals add that extra style; makes it one of our absolute favourites.
