In 1966, visionary American car designer Caroll Shelby joined forces with fearless British-born driver Ken Miles to build a revolutionary race car for the Ford Motor Company. This year, a new film starring Matt Damon and Christian Bale will dramatise their efforts, and you can take your first look at the story above.
Together, Shelby and Miles — played by Damon and Bale, respectively — battled corporate interference, the laws of physics and their own personal demons to get their car to the start line. And, with the formidable motors of Enzo Ferrari dominating the 24 Hours of Le Mans race during this era, this was only the start of their challenges.
The film, titled Ford v. Ferrari, is being released under the slightly less catchy name Le Mans ’66 here in the UK — but it proves to be a no-holds-barred thrill ride, with The Wolf of Wall Street’s Jon Bernthal and James Mangold, director of Logan, also along for the ride.
