With a rich heritage, Longines are one of the most renowned watch brands around. In recent months, they’ve been filling out the Heritage line with a seemingly never-ending array of vintage-inspired pieces, all of which have been met with critical and commercial acclaim. Take the Heritage Diver 1967 for example, which remains respectably loyal to the original it’s based on, yet updated with a modern brushed/polished case and bracelet. Elsewhere in their range though, the Conquest family has been around since 1954 and following BaselWorld 2015, a new sibling has been unveiled.
As well as the obvious, a fabled history in watchmaking, Longines has been involved in horse racing as early as 1878. With the release of the Conquest Classic Moonphase they are looking to reference this and in producing a watch that perfectly marries sporting elements with a sleek, smart aesthetic, they have largely succeeded. In other words, if you’re looking for a timepiece to wear to the Royal Ascot (of which Longines is a proud sponsor), you need look no further.
Available on either a steel bracelet or a black alligator with a range of case metals including steel, 18k rose gold or a combination of the two, the Conquest Classic Moonphase is a stunning timepiece. The watch face itself is made up of a complex array of numbers and dials, with an inner date ring and outer seconds ring running around the outside of the sunken main dial. With both a chronograph and a moonphase, as well as day/month indicator at 12 o’clock, there’s a lot going on with this timepiece, making the accessible price point even more attractive.
