As far as affordable luxury goes, Christopher Ward couldn’t be more on point if they tried. Where else can you buy a stunning piece of wrist-wear without the five – or six – digit price tag, all without compromising on craftsmanship? The British brand has recently added another superb watch to their Harrison collection, and word on the well-heeled street is that this C900 Worldtimer also might just be one of the easiest world timers to use.
The Christopher Ward C900 Worldtimer features a rather inspired dial and display of the world’s time zones. The young, but exceptionally talented, Johannes Jahnke made the bespoke (patent pending) modification to the ETA 2893 automatic. The newly created caliber JJ03 is based on an ETA 2893 base movement with a re-engineered gearing system that lets both hour hands rotate at the same speed; that’s one rotation in 24 hours.
As visually compelling as the craftsmanship itself, the Christopher Ward Worldtimer features a very detailed, multilayered dial, with a stunningly criss-crossed ‘dimple’ base, all overlaid by a silhouette of a world map. Perhaps one of the most effective touches is the simple use of a red dot to specify the wearer’s selected city. The deep blue tone of the dial is flawlessly complemented by midnight blue of the strap. Combine this with the fact that your conscience needn’t be compromised either, as the luxurious Louisiana alligator strap is also ethically sourced. Finally, the C900 Worldtimer also has a smaller, high-grade clasp, which is far neater and less complicated than the omnipresent butterfly clasp.
With exceptional craftsmanship at an affordable price, you really shouldn’t need any more persuading this. Perfect for the business traveler who is forever changing time zones, the explorer on a constant adventure, or even just the gentleman who likes his timepiece to complement his jeans when dressing for the weekend; there is no doubt that this spectacular watch is an absolute must buy.
