The unmissable events of London Wine Week

The unmissable events of London Wine Week

London Wine Week, now in its third year, offers Londoners the chance to explore the world of wines on their doorstep. Over 100 top bars, restaurants and pop-ups celebrate by offering unique experiences for those with a £10 wristband. But whether you’re relaxing in the Nyetimber Hub or at Vins de Provence’s beach-inspired pop up, there is something for everyone at the famous LWW. I’ve picked my top events to try and get down to.

Tasting Evening at Le Cordon Bleu’s

Matthew Longuere, Master Sommelier, takes the charge of this informative evening of wine. The event consists of a series of tastings in a range of wine styles from intense reds to delightful sparklings. Guests will learn how to read a wine label, dispelling myths and expanding palettes. The food is bound to be delicious too with canapés by the Le Cordon Bleu’s master chefs. You can’t ask for better than that! The event takes place on 26th May and tickets are priced at £25 per person (with a LWW wristband). For more information, look here.

Aldi’s Pop Up Wine Tasting Shop

Aldi is quickly becoming the wine world’s worst kept secret. Its award winning wines have been breaking records without breaking the bank and any sensible gentleman knows that if you’re serious about wine you should be getting down to Aldi. To demonstrate their stellar collection, they’re hosting a three-day pop up in London’s trendy Box Park. Guests can sample a selection of the retailer’s wines for free, as well as attend tasting masterclasses. And, once guests have found the wine (or wines!) of choice, they they can order them online at Aldi.co.uk – it couldn’t be easier. Aldi’s pop-up runs from 26th to 28th from 11-7 and is free for all attendees. Disappearing Dining Club and London Wine Week Banquets

If you’re after a wine-and-dine experience with a difference then the Disappearing Dining Club’s series of banquets in Devonshire Square is certainly worth signing up for. This unusual experience has turned wine pairing on its head and, instead, the organisers chose the wines first and matched the menus accordingly. Because of this, each decadent feast is themed around a famous wine region of the world so whether you’re after an Argentinian twilight banquet or a Sicilian long lunch, there’s something for everyone. Fine wine and good food seems like a perfectly decent way to spend a bank holiday. Tickets range from £50-65 and include all wine and a four course. The banquets run from Thursday 26th to Sunday 29th and more information can be found here.
