Triumph x Barbour: sartorial design meets biking heritage
Words: Hugh Francis Anderson
Since the days of Steve McQueen, Barbour International has long been associated with the heritage rich world of motorcycling, so it’s little wonder they have teamed up with Triumph to release a range of motorcycle-specific items with a definite sartorial flair.
As the oldest continuous production motorcycle company in the world, Triumph is world-renowned for representing the best of British mechanical engineering, with iconic motorcycles that are effortlessly beautiful. Merging this heritage with a British clothing brand surely demonstrates our commitment to being the best.
The new range, which includes a customised Barbour International jackets, cut-off denim jackets, shirts, chunky knitwear and strong t-shirt designs, has everything the motorcycle-savvy gentleman could want.
“With Barbour International firmly established as a separate brand, a collaboration with the most iconic of all motorcycling names was the next step,” says Paul Wilkins, Head of Global Marketing for Barbour International, “both brands are British names synonymous with motorcycling and have a great deal of synergy. Steve McQueen rode a Triumph Bonneville, perhaps one of the most famous motorcycles of all time and he also wore Barbour International, the original biker jacket when he competed in the 1964 International Six Day Trials as a member of the US team. We are delighted to be working with Triumph to create modern day collections inspired by our shared motorcycling history.”
