Benedict Cumberbatch’s latest outing features the crème-de-la-crème of British acting, with fellow codebreaker and English rose Kiera Knightley appearing alongside Mark Strong, Rory Kinnear and Charles Dance in Norwegian director Morten Tyledum’s newest drama.
The trailer reveals an intense, personal story which juxtaposes the two wars of genius Mathematician and Codebreaker Alan Turing as he tackles both complex Nazi codes and his repressed homosexuality. Debuting at the BFI London Film Festival later this year, festival director Clare Stewart has promised that the “the Imitation Game does cinematic justice to Alan Turing’s vision, determination and personal story as well as his enduring impact on British history and contemporary life.”
Despite the fact that the film hasn’t yet been reviewed by the critics, ‘The Imitation Game’ looks set to be the biggest test of Cumberbatch’s acting ability since his acclaimed roles in ’12 Years a Slave’ and ‘The Hobbit’.
