Twenty years after the box-office hit, Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels are returning to their gloriously silly roles of Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunne. Despite having progressed into much more serious acting since the release of Dumb and Dumber, Carrey and Daniels have relished in the opportunity to embrace their inner idiots and return to the hilarity of the Dumb and Dumber circle.
The first trailer to be released was premiered on Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight Show, an appropriate comical set up. The plot of Dumb and Dumber To (get what they did there?) follows Lloyd and Harry as they try to find the daughter Harry only just discovered he has. Along the way they run into their typical debauchery, committing arson in a motel and parking up in the middle – literally – of a highway. And prepare yourself for the return of their beyond ridiculous dog van.
The sequel puts the Farrelly Brothers back in the director’s chair for more raucous, laugh out loud fun. And just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, the film sees appearances from Kathleen Turner, Rob Riggle and a cameo from Jennifer Lawrence. We’ll leave you in suspense though, as the film isn’t hitting the silver screens until December 14 – a gruelling and agonising wait, we know.
