Three diver’s watches we love under £1,000

These timepieces will ensure that you're never out of your depth

Seiko have a rich history of diver’s watches. From their first, an automatic 150 metre watch released in 1965, to the world’s first multi-level diving computer watch which launched in 2000, the company have always been at the fore of nautical timekeeping.

This, a Solar Chronograph cornerstone of the Japanese company’s Prospex collection, is powered by both natural and artificial light. With a stainless steel case and bracelet, black dial with LumiBrite markers and a black rotating bezel, this is a true marriage of fashion and function.

The red chronograph hand is key for divers to keep time – and the 200 metre water resistance rating means that they’ll need plenty of it to explore the depths.

When Longines launched their Hydroconquest range, the famous Swiss watch brand were aiming to combine technical innovation with timeless elegance.

Enclosed in a stainless steel case – with several layers of anti-reflective coating on the underside – the L3.743.4.56.2 boasts an L440 Quartz chronograph movement. Three sub-dials show hours, 30 minutes and seconds – and the black dials itself is protected by scratch-resistant sapphire crystal.

Water resistant to 30-bar, this is a brilliant watch for divers. The silver polished hands are detailed with Super-LumiNova to increase visibility – as are the hour marks and numerals – and the black rubber strap has a double security folding clasp and handy integrated diving extension.

The Professional Diver by Victorinox is exactly that – a certified diving watch that combines the strength of the basic I.N.O.X range with the custom features divers rely on.

The unidirectional rotating bezel features a count-up scale, so you’ll always know where you are in the water, and the bright yellow colour option – if you can work such standout colours – will ensure that visibility stays high even at the murkiest of depths.

This 45mm watch also features anti-reflection sapphire crystal, robust rubber strap and comes with an exclusive Swiss Army Knife featuring a strap-change tool.
