Uber’s rape claims

An investigation conducted by Buzzfeed into reported sexual assaults by Uber drivers concludes that, over the last three years, the company has had five claims of rape and 170 cases of sexual assault. Uber released an official document yesterday after the report by Buzzfeed, stating that they would rather their customers hear the facts from them.

One of America’s most influential first ladies has died. Nancy Reagan was the wife of America’s 40th American president, Ronal Reagan. Nancy was claimed time and time again to have been the reason why Reagan made it to president and was an incredibly fierce guardian of his image.

BBC chief has quit over Brexit

The director general of the BCC, John Longworth, resigned late last night after he breached the group’s neutral stance on Brexit. He said that the EU was incapable of meaningful reform and that he believed that Britain could easily have a bright economic future outside of the EU – and accused David Cameron of hyperbole.

South Korea and the US have today kicked off their biggest ever joint military drills which have, for obvious reasons, prompted new warnings from North Korea of “indiscriminate” nuclear strikes against Seoul and the US mainland.

The man credited with inventing email has died

Ray Tomlinson is the man largely credited with inventing email, and adding the ‘@’ element into every email address. Tomlinson invented the email in 1971 and was since recognised as the grandfather of the internet. He died on Saturday.

Apple customers were targeted by hackers over the weekend in the first known ransomware attack on Mackintosh computers. Ransomware is one of the fastest-growing types of cyber threats and is dangerous because it encrypts data and then asks users to pay ransoms in hard-to-trace digital currencies.

The second piece of flight MH370

A resident on the French Indian Ocean island of Reunion, who found a wing fragment from missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 last year, came forward on Sunday stating that he had found what could possibly be a second piece from the missing aircraft. The Boeing 777 carrying 239 passengers and crew vanished on March 8th 2o14 on an overnight flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing.

New abnormalities from Zika

The pay gap continues

New analysis has found a gender pay gap of £5,732 or 24% in average annual salaries in the UK, prompting for more to be done to stop the gap being there at all. The fresh analysis states that women are likely to earn £300,000 less than men over their entire working lives, working on an average career of 52 years.
