These are the ultimate Father’s Day experiences
Looking to really push the boat out for your father this Father's Day? We've got you covered with the ultimate experiences for Father's Day 2021.
Words: Izzie Price
Father’s Day can be a tricky one, can’t it? It’s a day to celebrate fathers, and all they do for us; but it’s a day that often falls victim to a hastily purchased card from the nearest retailer, and a phone call that often sees waves of guilt trickling their way down the phone line when we remember that the card we oh-so-hastily purchased probably won’t arrive for another few days.
Well: not this year. This year, it’s time to celebrate fathers in all their wonderful, benevolent glory. It hasn’t been an easy year for fathers (or, indeed, for anyone); so now’s the time to give them the Father’s Day you’ve always meant — but haven’t quite managed — to do. And, luckily for you (and your father), we’ve put together a carefully curated list of activities that should make this the Father’s Day you and your family will always remember.
If he’s a wine man, take him to The Coral Room
With each week that passes, English wine is increasingly being given the reception it deserves: that of delicious, delectable wine that even the most discerning wine expert will endlessly wax lyrical about. And it seems no one knows this better than The Coral Room: this Bloomsbury establishment is hosting a week-long collaboration with Sussex-based estate, Rathfinny, showcasing a selection of their award-winning sparkling wines. Just the thing for a father with an interest in, knowledge of and passion for wine, in all its many and varied forms.
From Saturday 19th June, General Manager Giovanni Spezziga will showcase the vast breadth of Rathfinny’s top Cuvées with a special tasting flight — a flight that will include the Rathfinny Classic Cuvée, the Rathfinny Rose and their Blanc de Blancs — and the team are also offering a selection of four bar plates with a bottle of the Classic Cuvée for a mere £90. If your father appreciates good wine and enjoys a hearty wine discussion, you couldn’t find a better experience.
If he’s lucky enough to have hair, take him to Ruffians
If your father is approaching his more advanced years (though we’d never want to assume a gentleman’s age) and still has a full head of hair, he should be celebrating that fact each and every day. And what better way to celebrate his riotous good fortune than by booking him in for the haircut of a lifetime this Father’s Day?
Happily, a haircut of a lifetime is what Ruffians can provide: specifically, with their Re-Style Haircut. Lasting for 60 minutes, your delegated barber (or ‘Ruffian’) will chat with your father about his lifestyle, hair type and face shape to establish a bespoke cut for him. Fathers will benefit from a hair wash, using Ruffian’s new Strengthening Shampoo, and an invigorating scalp massage; and an ice cold Ruffians beer or freshly ground coffee are complimentary throughout the service.
If he thrives on luxury, treat him to a Gentleman’s Afternoon Tea at The Egerton House Hotel
If your father has an eye for luxury, he’s a gentleman after our own heart. And where luxury activities are concerned this Father’s Day, you couldn’t do better than the Gentleman’s Afternoon Tea at this Knightsbridge hotel. The special menu includes Welsh rarebit, cheddar scones, scotch eggs and mini beef burgers as alternatives to sandwiches; and these culinary delights come with a beer of choice (choices include a Meantime Pale Ale or a Toast Session Lager, among others).
If your father prefers an evening outing, or if you’re looking to extend the day: why not treat him to a Martini Masterclass with The Egerton’s barmen? Guests will learn about the origins and history of the martini, and there’ll be an opportunity to make (and taste) your own, plus canapés that include smoked salmon, and tomato and mozzarella bruschetta.
If he’s a car man, treat him to a stay — and a supercar — at The Lanesborough

This is really an experience for those who are looking to extend the Father’s Day celebrations beyond this Sunday; and, indeed, why wouldn’t you? As we said, this year is the day to celebrate fathers like never before; and in this case, The Lanesborough is offering a unique experience — one predicated on speed.
The Lanesborough has introduced a new fleet of supercars, offering guests the chance to explore London and the surrounding counties in style. The collection includes a Ferrari GTC 4 Lusso, a McLaren 570S, a Rolls Royce Phantom and a Lamborghini Urus, with a further range of iconic and classic cars available on request. When guests book into hotel’s Royal, Presidential or Buckingham suites, they’ll have the chance to drive a different supercar every day of their stay; and the supercar fleet is available to all guests staying in all other rooms and suites, for a daily hire rate.
Go on; push the boat out (or should that be ‘car’?).
If he’s partial to a game of golf, take him to Gleneagles
Gleneagles, PGA course
This is another one for those who are looking to celebrate their father for longer than just one day (and so you should, too), or for those of you who regrettably aren’t able to be with your father in person this Sunday. If that’s the case, and if your father’s a golf man (or even if he isn’t), we’d strongly recommend an overnight stay at Gleneagles.
We have no doubt you’re familiar with the hotel that could also be termed the pinnacle of Scottish luxury, in every sense; in which case, what are you waiting for? Guests can enjoy multiple rounds of golf on any of the hotel’s three championship courses — the PGA Centenary, or the King’s or Queen’s course — and an overnight stay will also give guests full access to the Health Club leisure facilities and a hearty Scottish breakfast the next morning.
If he appreciates good grooming, take him for a HydraFacial at Mallucci London
If your father likes to prioritise healthy, polished grooming routines, then he’s a gentleman after our own heart: and we can’t think of a better Father’s Day experience for him than a trip to the luxury aesthetic and cosmetic clinic, Mallucci London.
If you’ve never heard of a HydraFacial, you’re probably not alone there; so allow us to fill you in. It’s often known as the Hollywood ‘Red Carpet’ treatment, because it leaves skin looking (and feeling) glowing and refreshed from the time of treatment. Able to be used on all skin types, it uses Vortex-Fusion technology to remove impurities, and the six-step process includes lymphatic drainage, exfoliation and a chemical peel, among other state-of-the-art skincare processes. It’s a grooming marvel: don’t let it go to waste.
If he’s overdue a little indulgence, take him to Bentley’s
We all need to indulge every now and then (or even more often than that, if we’re being really honest): and Father’s Day is the prime time to help your long-suffering father indulge in the most luxurious, decadent way possible. He deserves it. In which case, it’s time for you and your father to pay a visit to Bentley’s Oyster Bar & Grill in Mayfair.
This Father’s Day, Bentley’s are putting fathers to the top of their (high quality) list. A special royal fish pie with lobster and scallop is on offer — certainly one for any fathers who are partial to fish — and it’s also offering a free glass of champagne to every father dining in the restaurant on Father’s Day. Go forth, and indulge.
