The Zenith Pilot Extra Special in collaboration with The Watch Gallery

The Zenith Pilot Extra Special in collaboration with The Watch Gallery

It’s not a common sight to see one of the world’s premier watchmakers collaborate with a watch retailer. But then again, The Watch Gallery is not your normal retailer. Founded by HRH Prince Ernst of Hanover, the pedigree of this luxury watch shop is truly unparalleled. Zenith, on a similar footing, has been meticulously churning since 1865, creating magic along the way. This is also not the first time the two brands have come together. In 2013 they collaborated to produce the El Primero Chronomaster, which was limited to just 10 pieces. And now, they’re coming together again to release a unique, limited edition Pilot Extra Special watch.

Zenith x The Watch Gallery 1 Horology Times

Zenith’s Pilot watch has an illustrious past that goes back to the very beginning of flying, making it the only Swiss brand that holds a license to print ‘pilot’ on the dial. The new collaborative piece is powered by Zenith’s existing automatic Elite 679 Calibre, which offers the usual hours, minutes and central seconds hands, with a 50-hour power reserve packed neatly into a 45mm stainless-steel case. Ok, so there’s nothing new here – what there is, however, is The Watch Gallery’s subtle touch. The dial features The Watch Gallery’s signature blue colouring, as does the stitching on the brown alligator strap. The case back refers directly to The Watch Gallery, including its limited edition number, of which there are only 35. In short, this watch nicely represents the unity of the luxury watch industry. Zenith makes watches, The Watch Gallery sells them – it’s really as simple as that. A rather natural symbiosis, and one that is sure to become an instant success, we’re big fans of the outcome.

“After the huge success of our first collaboration, we embraced the opportunity to work with our valued partners at The Watch Gallery again,” says Brand Director Rebecca McDermott. “This version of one of Zenith’s most iconic watches presents our clients with the chance to own an extremely rare example of fine watchmaking.”

So, if their last collaboration is anything to go by, you’ll be hard pressed to get your hands on one of these pieces. However, we highly recommend you try. With a price point of £4,950, it will be available worldwide on December 1.
