Words: Gentleman's Journal
There are not many motor yacht designs that can truly stand the test of time, but J-Craft have managed to hit the nail on the head. The now renowned Torpedo is one of those boats that seem to ooze effortless elegance from every pore. The gleaming polished exterior, the beautifully crafted lines and the classic 1960s style coming together with the power of a modern motor yacht – it is a true gentleman’s boat.
Known in the industry as ‘the Bentley of the seas’, the J-Craft Torpedo is the ultimate platform for a stylish summer cruise in the Med, from meandering along the Amalfi Coast to partying in the Côte d’Azur. The Swedish boat builder has successfully bridged the gap between old and new by employing a passion for graceful sea travel combined with exceptionally high quality and power.
Thousands of man-hours go into creating these boats and it shows. Every detail on-board has been completed with absolute precision, like the hand-carved Nardi steering wheel taken from the legendary Ferrari 250 GTO. At 12.6m long, the amenities on offer are at the standard of a much larger vessel to include sunpads, a wet room, sumptuous leather seating areas and an impressive on-board entertainment system.
There is also room to sleep up to 4 guests and a Captain, so after a long day of touring coastlines and islands, passengers can anchor up and enjoy sundowners on deck. The Torpedo isn’t just limited to relaxation, however, and with top speeds of 50 knots powered by twin Volvo Penta IPS 500 engines it can get you anywhere quickly.
Owning a J-Craft is like becoming the member of an exclusive club, the ‘J-Craft Family’, though it will cost you in the region of €850,000 to join, plus a bit extra for all those customisations that really make it unique.
