The Perfect Bank Holiday Tipple – Tobermory 15 year old Whisky
Originally founded in 1798 by John Sinclair, under the name Ledaig, Tobermory is the only distillery on the majestic Isle of Mull and is one of the oldest commercial distilleries in Scotland. With its old-world charm, Tobermory’s ethos is that of doing things the old fashioned way – by hand. Unique in the fact that it produces two very different malt whiskies: the unpeated and fruity Tobermory and the wonderfully smoky Ledaig. It takes something unique to create an Island Single Malt Scotch Whisky, with a unique blend of location, ingredients, timing and people. Just as Mull is a special place, nestled off the West Coast of Scotland, Tobermory is a unique distillery and the people who craft it are artisans of their trade.
With its natural colour and high strength – at 46.3% – the essence of Tobermory 15YO is authentically encapsulated in every bottle. Uniquely blown glassware is gift-boxed in fine dark-gold oak, with the bottle hand wrapped in a gift tissue wrap that illustrates Tobermory Bay – a commission by painter Sonas Maclean. Final luxurious touches include a three-piece insertwith historic photography with the Master Distiller’s tasting notes and a gift card with bay imagery. Like everything about this gem of a whisky, this is one to be treasured.
NOSE: A lovely sherried nose with notes of fig, orange marmaladeand hints of leather
