So far the new CLS Shooting Brake has been well received and has been described as the estate car for people who don’t like estates. The exterior styling is beautiful, both sleek and bold. Although it is more expensive than its rivals, you can see why from the quality of the interior.
The Brabus takes all the good from the CLS Shooting Brake and makes it better even further. The Brabus tune up’s include a bodykit, alloy wheels designs and sports exhaust packages, a 35mm ride drop, however the real difference is the 611bhp option for the flagship CLS63 AMG variant.
On the V8 bi-turbo AMG, Brabus uses a new intercooler and ECU to lift the power from 549bhp to 611bhp, and the torque from 590lb ft to 737lb ft, which gives and 0-62mpg of 4.2sec and a top speed of 200mph. They have also done their magic on the two diesel versions, both of which are offered in the UK. The CLS250 CDI four cylinder has had a 31bhp increase to 232bhp, whilst the torque has jumped 78lb ft to 446lb ft. However with the CL350 CDI it depends on what mode you are in. Stay in ‘Eco’ mode and the bhp will remain the same, but with a torque boost from 457lb ft to 590lb ft. However switch to sport and the bhp will increase to 308 bhp from 261php and will produce a 0-62mph in 5.9sec.
Brabus have been to work in the cabin too, with their usual branded leather and carbon fiber.
Prices are yet to be released, however they are not expected to be cheap, but they do come with a three year/62,000 mile warranty, should you need help convincing the wife.
