The Gentleman’s Guide: The Best Places For Fishing This Summer
Words: Patrick
When it comes to a good old-fashioned whine about the weather, us Brits are in our element. Every summer we get excited about the prospect of playing a full 18 holes after work, hitting the grass courts for a set or christening the new barbecue while sat on the verandah discussing our bronzed skin. But, more often than not, we’re left burning chicken in the pouring rain, watching Nadal and Poulter on television rather than getting our trainers on. In general, if it’s sun we’re after, we acknowledge that we must cross a few borders to get what we’re after. So we get looking. Where to go? What to do? Will the weather hold? Will the seas be calm? Etc., etc.
But there’s a simple answer to all this kafuffle. Fishing. Instantly you may be reaching for the page exit button, but stick with me. For within just a few hour’s flight from London is a plethora of stunning lodges, hotels and estates where come wind, rain, shine, sleet or hail your day isn’t going to be ruined.
