Royal Ascot is an event, first and foremost, about the racing. The finest jockeys and their trusty steeds descend upon the event each and every year in the hope of trumping the competition, and the action never fails to excite. Given the fact that it’s the biggest racing event on the calendar, the spectacle of Royal Ascot is really something to behold. It’s one of the smartest affairs too, with thousands of fans getting dressed to the nines whether they’re on the grounds or in the Royal Enclosure. The latter demands the strictest dress code though, with only traditional morning suits and top hats allowed for gentlemen. Being that it is the ‘Royal’ Enclosure, our British royals do it best though. Here are the best dressed royals at Royal Ascot.
PRINCE CHARLES
This all-classic look benefits from its monotone colour palette, as the black accents and subtle lilac tie are allowed to shine. Charles nails the accessories too, with a purple flower pin on his left lapel, a pocket watch at his waist as well as a gentleman’s umbrella, which adds a touch of sophistication.

PRINCE PHILIP
Equally classic yet even more debonair, this combination three-piece expertly plays with pattern. Both stripes are used in the trousers and shirt and a miniature print is utilised on the tie, which itself compliments the pink flower lapel pin.

With a look very similar to his grandfather above, Harry shows just how ageless morning dress can be. He brightens things up with a baby blue tie yet retains the sobriety with matching black Oxfords and top hat.

PRINCE MICHAEL OF KENT
Arguably the best dressed royal of all, Prince Michael of Kent regularly dons some seriously well tailored suits, regardless of the event he is gracing his presence with. Here he favoured a strong-shouldered grey morning coat, beige linen waistcoat and boldly patterned tie with a striped contrast collared dress shirt. The brooding gaze and well-groomed beard is optional.
