There are few finer things in life than feeling of the sun beat down on your back whilst relaxing on the white sand of a Mediterranean beach, with little more to worry about than where you’ll head in the evening. But if you happen to get bored, the water toy industry has provided some fantastic new innovations, to help keep the lucky few entertained on their luxury yachts. Here are the toys you need on the water, available to hire throughout the Mediterranean.
SEABOB, , This bodyboard and motorbike hybrid, on which you lie on your front, is steered in much the same way as you would operate a motorbike. The jet-powered sled glides across the water surface at speeds of up to 15 miles per hour and, as the name suggests, you can also bob under the surface at high speeds to get a perfect view of what is happening below the surface.
JETLEV FLYER, , Whilst it may look like something out of a James Bond film, the JetLev-Flyer really does exist. Designed by Canadian engineer Raymond Li and first seen in 2009, this jet pack has become a firm favourite with the yacht charter crowd in some of the world’s most exclusive destinations. The long tube sucks up water which is then pumped out of two nozzles on the side of the pack, propelling the user up to heights of up to 30ft and forwards at speeds of 30mph are also achievable – depending on how much lunch they’ve had.
JETSKI, , An old favourite, but still one of the best ways to travel through the water, these water beasts give the ultimate adrenaline rush. If you can afford them, the top end models top out at speeds of 80mph and the two-seater option makes this the most sociable toy on the list and a potential winner for an audacious date.
FLYBOARD, , You might have first seen this when we dubbed it the coolest invention ever, the Flyboard is a new product that is sure to take off over the next few years, if you’ll excuse the pun. In a similar style to the JetLev flyer, the Flyboard allows you to escape the water and perform unbelievable tricks. Whilst the JetLev-Flyer allows you to cultivate your inner James Bond, this hoverboard will bring back childhood memories of Back to the Future and offers you the chance to reach speeds of 23mph, up to 16ft above the water. You’ll need to wear an impact vest.
JET SURF, , If the lack of waves is making it impossible for you to surf then the engineers from Moto GP and Formula 1 have collaborated to find you a solution, by cleverly placing a motor on the end of a surfboard. Whilst this may sound a bit like cheating, staying on your feet at speeds of 35mph will prove quite a challenge, such speeds make the Jet Surf the perfect toy for a bit of friendly competition among friends and is ideal for the flat calm of the Mediterranean.
