Tech – Timbre Speakers
Words: Violet
It’s safe to say that these speakers are not going to win awards for style or outlandishness any time soon. If we, here at The Gentleman’s Journal, are being brutally honest they look as if they were designed by Germans, with spectacles, trimmed beards AND white coats, in a laboratory.
One gets the impression that machines which measure very small things indeed have been employed in their construction. Ze box ist wood, ze sheet ist stainless steel und ze vire in ze cables ist copper! Indeed, it is one of the few non-hygiene related products that advertises itself as ‘ultra clean looking’. There is a bit of stuff about looks but trust us when we say that the focus of the design is that the speakers are ‘compact and efficient’. These are words that speak to our central European cousins on a genetic level. Any Germans reading this will be nodding sagely and stroking their chins with quiet approval.
It will surprise you to learn that these speakers have been designed by Americans. Yes, the country that invented the Big Mac and ketchup has also given us the world’s cleanest speakers. However, trust us when we say that there is passion in these machines and whilst it may not be in the design it is in the sound in spades. By simply creating a very study frame and strategic clamping in others (no references to 50 Shades of Grey) the timbre and frequency can now been tuned and focussed unlike any other product. The stainless steel sheet comes into its own because it wraps around the top and bottom of the case it stops it from vibrating from the speakers. This basically stops baffle (the mixing between different directions of sound) from interfering with sound. What it does is create a clear and pure stream of sound which is a must for all music lovers.
The quality of the sound is unmatched and you can’t believe it comes from such an unassuming design. These speakers are modest and that makes them endearing to us at TGJ. There are no frills, they are told to produce excellent sound: so they do just that. We like this quality in people but we like it even more in products.
