Tech – the canon eos 700d
Labelled ‘for beginners’ by Canon, this camera has been unfairly judged before reaching a single customer. Its labelling could make any potential owner feel as though they’ve signed up to the kiddies section. If you are of a particularly manly mind-set this is, naturally, intolerable. Other professional photographers might laugh at you. They will talk about the DSLRs and Megapixels and chiaroscuro in their photographs (not ‘pictures’). They will spend many hours setting up in the dark with lenses, waiting for that perfect shot. With this camera, however, you only need point and click and… you get exactly the same result. In short, professional photographers will hate you.
The thing is, though – this camera provides excellent pictures. And, frankly, what else really matters? You could even take a semi decent selfie (the laws of physics and decency show that a good one is impossible). It has even got around Canon’s obsession with buttons – simply by not putting as many on. If you like photography as a passion, not a career, then this is the one for you.
