It’s been over a decade since Sunspel kitted-out Daniel Craig in 2006’s Casino Royale, and once again the luxury British menswear brand is making its mark in the world of Bond, as its latest range – The Ian Fleming™ Collection – takes inspiration from the author who birthed the world’s most famous super spy.
Made in collaboration with the Ian Fleming Estate, this spring capsule comprises everyday wearables such as crisp shirts, butter-soft knits, basic jumpers and classic crew neck T-shirts, all of which boast timeless looks that are balanced out by a contemporary palette of white, navy, sky blue, green and grey. Items such as the camp collar shirt and the knitted polo also inject a throwback aesthetic that’s based on the style of the Fifties – a period when Fleming brought his most famous character to life.
But the real focus for menswear aficionados is the line’s exclusive use of Sea Island cotton – a material that Fleming was devoted to and wore religiously at Goldeneye, his estate in Jamaica where he wrote all 14 Bond novels.
A fabric that makes up only 0.0004% of the world’s cotton supplies, Sunspel’s Sea Island cotton is one of the rarest and most-sought after materials around, and thanks to its uniform texture, silk-softness and durability, it’s not only added a big hit of finesse to the Sunspel brand since the 20th century, but it’s also a welcome arrival with the warmer seasons starting to kick in.
