Ede & Ravenscroft is a special kind of tailor. Not only does it provide the best men’s tailoring and womenswear, but it’s also renowned for supplying the country’s graduates with their ceremonial attire. Elegant, stylish and superbly British, Ede & Ravenscroft was founded in 1689 by a respected family called the Shudalls, making it the oldest surviving firm of tailors in the world.
Ede & Ravenscroft counts royalty amongst its esteemed clientele – proof of its five centuries of unwavering dedication to quality. Ede & Ravenscroft was called upon to create the robes for the coronation of their Majesties William and Mary, as well as ceremonial robes for the coronation of His Majesty King George III. This has since extended to creating robes for individuals within the church, the government, the judiciary and academia. The 19th Century saw another exciting change for the company when Joseph Ede married Rosanna Ravenscroft, a member of the highly regarded Ravenscroft wig making family. Wigs have been a staple of Ede & Ravenscroft ever since.
Robes aside, it is of course known for its sophisticated, tailored suits, which consistently manage to stay contemporary but always stay true to the company’s incredible heritage. Today, the family tailors provide service to royals, lawyers, politicians and academics, as well as the more discerning gentleman of this world.
