Style – The Rise of the Cravat
Although women have a much larger scope when it comes to accessorising, us gents have been doing it for much longer than many may think. Cravats were worn as early as the 17th century with style icon of the time, King George II, being its most notable fan.
As we do have fewer decisions when it comes to adding to an outfit though, it means we must be especially careful when choosing what to purchase. A well made silk cravat can often be perfect, adding just the right amount of style and panache, whilst harking back to golden eras of the past. They are more than capable of being modernised however, and when worn correctly, the stuffy connotations often associated with this classic item can be completely removed.
A dandy accessory at heart, the cravat is an item that’s now synonymous with traditional British style, offering an easier, comfier and more dashing alternative to the necktie. It has the effortless ability to add character to a suit that would otherwise look plain in comparison and they come in a huge range of patterns and colours too. The choice available today is as diverse as ever, so if you want to inject a splash of personality into your outfit, look no further.
