STYLE – Perfect Pocket Squares For Your Personality
Words: Holly
With more than enough ways to fold one, the pocket square is the perfect subtle hint towards a Gentleman’s personality. Much like the tie and cufflinks a man might choose, a pocket square can add a certain je ne sais quoi to a man’s outfit without appearing ostentatious or indeed as though (heaven forbid) he might be peacocking.
Whether you know it or not, men choose accessories that mirror their personalities. Point in case: I joined my father for dinner on Friday and walked into the restaurant to find him wearing the Drakes navy and fuchsia spotty pocket square I gave him several Christmas’ ago, neatly 3 point square folded into his navy blazer. And whilst yes, it was me that chose it, it’s undoubtably the perfect accompaniment to both his style and personality – it’s traditional, smart, and understated with a bit of fun thrown in for good measure. Put simply, it’s him.
If you’re not usually the pocket-square-wearing kind of man, then perhaps you’ve just been looking at the wrong ones and now could be the time to branch out into the world of accessorising your jacket pocket with the same panache as you might, per say, your feet or wrists. If you’re still in doubt, then have a look over these three options and the personalities they are best for.
