Style – New Z Zegna Collection
Words: Charlie Thomas

Z Zegna SS14 Collection
Italian powerhouse, Ermenegildo Zegna, is renowned for producing some of the finest quality tailoring and knitwear in the world. Their clothing exudes Italian flair and an expert craftsmanship that you would expect from a brand that has been at the top of their game for over a century. Season after season they manage to remain ahead of the competition with contemporary takes on classic garments that, whilst modern, remain timeless and sophisticated.
With their Z Zegna collections though, they tend to really push the boundaries, creating innovative garments that blur the boundaries between the casual and the formal, the traditional and the unexpected. The new Z Zegna collection will be introduced at this summer’s Pitti Uomo 86, promising to be a highlight of what is one of the most closely watched annual fashion events of the calendar, and, having been designed by Murray Scallon and Paul Surridge, you know it’s going to be a showcase to remember.
Continuing Z Zegna’s ethos of innovative experimentation, you can expect the new collection to combine elements of other Zegna brands including Zegna Sport, creating a bold new aesthetic and a ‘sportification’ of gent’s tailoring. Traditional fabrics will be replaced with breathable, high-performance ones that are normally associated with sportswear. They’ve even constructed clothing from a brand new material they’ve dubbed Techmerino, which promises to be just as inventive as it sounds – although we’d advise that you refrain from wearing it to the gym. With innovative detailing and unusual silhouettes, Z Zegna aim to challenge the conventional way of dressing and with the big reveal at Pitti Uomo not long away now, we are waiting with baited breath.
