Style – lightweight backpacks
Words: Violet
We know that summer can sometimes be a trying time. It’s too hot outside, while the office is over-air conditioned, your holiday feels like it was months ago and the city fumes are making you ill. What you need is to reconnect with nature. It may sound simple, but spending a few hours – or, even better, a night – out of doors will make you feel revitalised, refreshed and ready to take on the world again.
There are any number of activities that can be done out of doors. The most simple, of course, is to go for a walk or play a game of tennis or golf. For anything beyond those basic ideas, though, you’ll need to bring some stuff with you – fishing rods, walking boots, a sailing kit. And if you go camping, you’ll obviously need a tent as well. (And no, we don’t mean camping at a festival – that may be fun, yes, and it’s certainly out of doors but it couldn’t count as relaxing even if it tried. Which it doesn’t.)
To lug all of that around in the sweltering heat sounds like a problem. But help is at hand if you have a lightweight, stylish backpack. Backpacks have come back into fashion from their prep-school reputation, first through the hipster scene and more recently in a chic, utilitarian way. These canvas, lightweight backpacks are a fuss-free and stylish way to transport your kit around while you embark on your outward bound adventure this summer. They’re roomy enough to fit in everything you need (plus some emergency chocolate for when blood sugar levels start to fall) yet compact enough to not weigh you down if they’re not too stuffed. Gentlemen, we present to you: the best of the summer backpacks.
