Style – best Oxford shirts
Words: Violet
There’s nothing quite like an Oxford shirt – especially when it’s clean, pressed, crisp and cool, under a jacket or on its own above jeans. It always, unfailingly looks smart. We would even go so far as to say that every gentleman should have a selection of these shirts in his wardrobe, in several different colours.
They can be worn in any situation and never look out of place. You will never need to worry about feeling over- or under- dressed in an Oxford. Their trademark is the button-down collar (although this isn’t entirely ubiquitous). They can be worn with the sleeves rolled up, for a more casual look. They are, in short, a wardrobe essential.
We’ve selected our favourite four that are on the market right now. From the cool blue of the Burberry version to the zingy yellow of J. Crew’s take on the trend, they come in every colour. There’s also a subtle pink from A.P.C. and a classic, classy white from Thom Browne. Now all you have to do is pick which one you want. (Hint: it’s all of them.)
