Words: Violet

We love a good brand collaboration story, particularly when it involves two of Britain’s renowned heritage brands joining forces. There have of course been some truly exceptional success stories over the last few years. For one, we salute the people behind the M&S and Richard James union and applaud the ingenious thinking behind Nick Hart for AR RED for Austin Reed. We’re anticipating Maison Martin Margiela for H&M like nothing before.. There’s nothing better than blending the best assets of two truly iconic brands to create one hell of a collection.

The latest collaborative venture to catch our attention is that between renowned British menswear institutions Barbour and Joseph Cheaney & Sons who have paired up to launch a special collaborative collection of handmade shoes for gents.

Sharing a history that spans over 100 years it’s a perfect match in our mind. On top of this, both are family-owned businesses that still produce their products on English soil – Barbour making its iconic waxed jackets in the retailer’s South Shield’s factory whilst Cheaney’s shoes are still cut, closed and lasted in Desborough, Northamptonshire. Barbour and Cheaney are widely recognised by Englishmen across the country for their passion for quality and heritage, which have never been more powerful than in this special capsule collection.

Paying homage to the legacy of quality both brands represent, the four shoe designs are timeless, full of heritage and constructed to the highest standard. The collection includes two pairs of boots and two pairs of Derby shoes, all of which incorporate classic Barbour and Cheaney details, including a spot of tartan here and there.

The boots will become a key piece in your wardrobe as we move into Autumn. Paired with slim-fit jeans they’ll give you a rough and rugged, but luxurious look. Likewise, the Derby designs are timeless; invest in them and you’ll look dapper for many years to come.
