All gentlemen want to stay in shape these days, but when faced with those bitterly cold mornings it’s very easy to put the alarm clock on snooze rather than leap out of bed and get ready for a jog around the park. By ensuring you have the right clothes and equipment you can make sure that winter exercise is not a chore.
INSULATE YOUR LEGS

Everyone knows that you risk injury and damage to your muscle tissue if you fail to warm up properly before exercising. It’s a lot harder to maintain warmth in your legs during very cold weather and that’s why it’s essential to insulate them with thermal running tights.

ENGAGE IN SEASONAL SPORTS

The Summer and Winter Olympics are different, and your exercise routine should correspond to the time of year too. If you don’t feel like jogging or humping a rugby ball up the pitch in a blizzard, you should consider ice skating, skiing and hiking – these winter sports will feel much more natural in the cold.
GO TO THE GYM AFTER WORK

The gym is the obvious place to go when the mercury drops and when you can have a varied workout in a warm, indoor location – there’s really no excuse for putting on the pounds over Christmas. Head to the gym straight after work and you’ll get into a productive winter exercise routine.
PROTECT YOUR FEET

Your feet can take a real beating during winter exercise, they can get cold and wet which can in turn lead to injuries and infections. If you protect your feet with thermal, waterproof socks those long jogs and footy matches in the rain won’t seem half as arduous.

GET SCIENTIFIC

By researching more scientific ways of exercising you can conserve your energy and better regulate your body temperature. For instance, during very cold days it’s best to face the headwind for the first half of your jog and then jog with it for the second half. This helps to reduce windchill later on in your jog as air currents are reduced by having the wind at your back.
