Spike Aerospace S-512 – Is This The Most State Of The Art Private Jet Ever?
Words: Violet
Talk about a seat with a view! This could be the coolest (or scariest) way to travel that we have seen in a long time. Spike Aerospace is in the process of building the first ever supersonic private jet with a somewhat hefty price-tag of $80 million, so you’d be right in thinking that this jet must have something pretty unique about it, and that it does. In fact, it is more what it doesn’t have that sets it apart from the rest. Windows. Yes, you read that right, the S-512 will replace windows in favour of high definition screens.

The American aerospace firm is using the recent advances in video recording, live-streaming, and display technology to fill the S-512’s exterior with small cameras sending footage to thin, curved displays lining the interior walls of the fuselage. The end result? An unfaltering panoramic view of the outside world. If passengers wish to sleep or would rather not have to look onto impending turbulence filled storm clouds, then they will be able to simply darken the screen or choose from a selection of other images.
More than just a pretty view, the Spike Aerospace S-512 promises to cut flight times in half so that busy billionaires can travel from New York to London in just 3 hours, LA to Tokyo in 5 and London to Mumbai in 4 hours. If this sounds like the sort of luxurious transportation that you can’t live without then we’re afraid you’ll have to wait a bit as this wont be in production until 2018, so just enough time to start filling up the piggy bank then.
