If you’ve ever been having lunch on the beach, gazing at your yacht out at sea and thinking it would be very handy to be able to operate your boat remotely, the new Wajer 44 is one step ahead. A Dutch family business based in Friesland, Wajer Yachts is known for its timeless, handcrafted designs incorporating the most innovative technologies available, and the recently released Wajer 44 features a ‘Smart Boating’ concept, enabling owners to connect to their yacht, and view all the data, via an owners app.
This means you can check the anchor position of your yacht, or prepare the air conditioning and hydraulic swimming ladder ready for when you hop on board, from wherever you are.
The yacht’s connectivity is not only available in the technical gadgets, but is also implemented in the deck layout, with outdoor benches forming a U-shape, allowing the guests on board to literally connect together more easily. The spacious lounging areas, featuring ergonomically designed back supports, also encourage guests to make time to disconnect and enjoy some relaxation, while sports enthusiasts will be pleased to know the yacht has ample storage space in the stern, specifically designed for toys, such as seabobs and electric surfboards.
Indeed, the new 44 has considerably more volume than the Wajer 38, yet, at 13 meters, she’s more compact than the Wajer 55, making her a spacious, open day boat, which is also suitable for comfortable overnight stays for two people. The interior of the Wajer 44 features a full double bed that transforms easily into a sitting area with a dining table, a fully equipped bathroom, and a pantry equipped with a refrigerator, a sink with hot and cold water, a coffee machine and an ice machine.
In terms of aesthetics, the design has many similarities to the Wajer 77, and, as with all Wajers, the lines of the 44 have been kept as clean as possible. The swing-over anchor arm fully retracts into the anchor hatch and even the cleats are seamlessly incorporated to retain the sleek, high-quality appearance characteristic of the distinctive Wajer fleet.
The captain operates the boat through three flush-mounted Garmin screens that completely fill the dashboard, and the cockpit is further equipped with a custom Wajer-design steering wheel and three sprung carbon shell seats. Powered by two Volvo IPS650 engines, a cruising speed of 26 knots and a top speed (half load) of 40 knots can be achieved. What’s more, owing to the optimised construction philosophy, the Wajer 44 is even quieter than its counterparts.
With service hubs in the Netherlands, France, Spain and America, owners are also guaranteed to have complete peace of mind during their sailing experience, due to the unique Wajer Care service program, which is provided to all Wajer customers.
One thing’s for sure, if you admire classic, elegant design, but want the comfort and, convenience of the latest technology, the Wajer 44 gives you the best of both worlds.
