The gentleman’s guide to shopping like Bond

The gentleman’s guide to shopping like Bond

Words: India Gladstone

Every gentleman wants a piece of James Bond, there’s no denying it. What with the impeccable suits, the refreshing martinis and the fleet of Aston Martins – not to mention the constant influx of incredible women and the best technology in the world – James Bond lives every man’s dream. And, with our gentleman’s guide to shopping like Bond, you can take that dream that bit closer to reality…

Scott’s, Mount Street

scotts

A gentleman has got to eat, and James Bond didn’t just eat at whichever restaurant he was closest to. In the majority of Ian Fleming’s novels, Bond was a regular at the prestigious Scott’s in Mayfair. In Diamonds Are Forever Bond pops in for a quick “dressed crab and pint of black velvet”, so order this and you’ll be one step closer to living the Bond dream…

The Four Seasons, Canary Wharf

fourseaons

Who wouldn’t want to wake up and go for a swim in a pool surrounded by glass floor-to-ceiling windows with incredible views around the whole of London? Make like Bond in Skyfall and spend the night here – just be sure to go for a dip…

Omega, Harrods

No James Bond outfit is complete without an incredible watch and Bond of late has a flavour for a classic Omega. Harrods have recently released the James Bond Limited Edition Seamaster Aqua Terra 150m model at the Omega boutique in their Fine Watch Room, where you can purchase the very same watch that Bond owns.

Dukes, St James’

dukes

Martinis are one of the most important aspects of Bond’s daily life and therefore it’s imperative that you visit Dukes. This is the very bar that Ian Fleming came up with the synonymous-with-Bond “shaken, not stirred” and it would be a crime to miss out.

Turnbull and Asser, Jermyn Street & Burberry, Knightsbridge

Not only do Turnbull and Asser shirts make a regular appearance in the early Bond films, but they were also Fleming’s personal shirtmaker. They are the place to head if you want to look as sartorially on point as Bond. Also, Burberry: in The Man With The Golden Gun, Roger Moore dons one of the brand’s classic trench coat and this is one item that every gentleman should aspire to own.

Floris, Jermyn Street

James Bond is without a doubt a very well groomed man; even when he’s fighting his latest victim there is never a hair out of place and it’s clear that he smells incredible. Every man should aspire to be as well groomed as this, so get on your way by heading to Floris. No.89 was a personal favourite of Fleming’s and is mentioned in novels Moonraker, Dr. No and Diamonds Are Forever.
