Sailing in Style on board Red Dragon

As far as sailing yachts go, the all-aluminium cruising sloop Red Dragon is about as stylish as they come. She was built in New Zealand in 2008 by Alloy Yachts to a design by the esteemed British design team at Dubois Naval Architects, a collaboration that has proved highly successful on several renowned projects. At 52 metres, her sleek lines and impressive 62 metre carbon fibre mast make for a magnificent vision on the water while her long list of facilities means sailing the high seas has never been so comfortable.

When you step aboard Red Dragon, you are gifted with that true get-away-from-it-all feel. Every indoor and outdoor living area has been created with simplicity, space and functionality in mind yet the quality of the finishes ensure that the timeless charm that makes sailing yachts so appealing is not lost. Her deck spaces are clear and uncluttered and include a large sunbathing area on the flybridge complete with open-air bar, perfect for relaxing in the day and sundowners in the evening.

As for entertainment, the outdoor projector screen takes the silver screen experience to a new level, where guests can watch their favourite movie stars under the real stars in surroundings as cinematic as the movies. Watersport enthusiasts are also taken care of with a range of toys and tenders to choose from including a 12 x 4 metre inflatable pool and a jet tender, all easily accessible via the huge swim platform that folds down from the aft deck and opens out on either side for a beach club effect.

For the interior styling, Wilmotte & Associates have mirrored the clean lines of Red Dragon’s exterior to form open, well-appointed spaces that are filled with natural light. She provides four en suite staterooms to accommodate up to eight guests including a generous Owner’s suite that benefits from the full beam. The main salon has been divided into several versatile living areas made up of an indoor bar, dining room and relaxation area that continue the theme of modern, streamlined elegance achieved throughout.

All this style is of course met with substance in the shape of state-of-the-art audio visual systems and performance capabilities that see her reach speeds of 15.5 knots – no mean feat for a sailing yacht of this size.

She is available for charter at rates starting from 200,000 EUR per week.
