The iWatch is coming
Words: James Somper
, It is a tale straight out of the Bible. The sight of Steve Jobs brandishing the iPad in April 2010 was hailed by many observers as the tech equivalent of Moses descending from the mount. However, since the death of the near saintly Steve Jobs in 2012 and the coinciding collapse in share price, Apple have been somewhat in the wilderness. Things could be about to change though.
After months of speculation, the rumours about a possible release date of the iwatch intensified today. The release of a possible design for the watch sent the companies share price sky rocketing on the NASDAQ to $94.03, a rise of 0.59%. This increase is good news all round. With a relatively flat line share price for most of the year, todays rise represented a major boost to the companies shareholders. More importantly for the tech savvy gentleman though, the rise in share price meant one important thing: there will be a second coming.
Apple have a tendency to coordinate product releases around a healthy share price and good standing on the markets. Today’s climbing share price, rumours of trademarking applications and the recent release of a possible design make the prospect of an iwatch a certainty. The 2.5 inch watch face will almost certainly draw from the designs of the current range of iPads, with similar screen icons as well as the functions of the ipod nano. With the recent development of ios8, the watch will be compatible with most ios devices for its basic functions as well as supporting the extensive range of apps that could be stored on the watch. The ever churning rumour mill has spoken of Apple developing around 10 different sensors for the watch to record and monitor heart rate and blood pressure as well as to track walk rates and general fitness.
In a typical move from the ever conscious Californian tech giant, a number of models and style of the watch at different price levels will be brought out. This is a clear indication that apple are poised to do what they do best: create a trend for their products as fashion accessories. However, with no official word from the company HQ in Cupertino, the exact details and design of the watch are still a matter of divine providence.
