Masterpiece preview: Rose Uniacke
Words: Gentleman's Journal
This summer, antique dealer Rose Uniacke is making her fourth appearance at Masterpiece London, a show that brings together patrons, collectors, curators and exhibitors from every corner of the art world.
Beautiful antiques of significant historical note being exhibited at Masterpiece include a rare slatted pine sofa from the Mobili nella Valle series (1966) by renowned Italian artist Mario Ceroli. This is being displayed alongside a stunning silvered pressed-metal and parcel gilt four-poster bed, circa 1860, by R.W. Winfield & Co. The firm, established in Birmingham in 1835, was famously awarded the high honour of a Council Medal at the Great Exhibition of 1851.
In company with these pieces will be a selection of rare antiques including a circular occasional table in veneered amboyna and ivory by Maison Dominique, circa 1930; a rattan coffee table with glass top (c.1954) by Jean Royere: and a George IV giltwood sofa with scrolling ancathus arms.
Rose Uniacke is a must-see at this year’s event.
Masterpiece takes place from the 25 June – 1 July at The Royal Hospital Chelsea, SW3 4LW.
