Dubbed dull and antiquated, the moustache has, recently, been exiled to a far flung corner of men’s style – except for in November (read Movember). However this summer, whether it be at Wimbledon or on the red carpet, there’s been a peppering of pencil lines, free stylers and chevrons. Gentlemen, the spectre of the moustache is rising from the ashes, not for charity, but at the hands of a group of intrepid, moustachioed pioneers. Here are the men who’ve been leading the way.
David Beckham, , There’s a reason why David Beckham is the one of the most stylish men in the world; impeccably dressed, his off piste gimmick that defines his status as a style icon has changed from year to year. Forget the dreads and throw away the earrings, Beckham’s latest idiosyncrasy is a dashing and elegant moustache which was the envy of centre court.

Hugh Jackman, , The last time we saw Hugh Jackman, he was bearing his claws on the big screen as the cleanshaven Wolverine in the latest X-Men movie. However, with his upcoming role as Blackbeard in a new adaption of the Peter Pan story, Jackman has grown a sprouting, talon like moustache and, despite his disco ball haircut, he’s never looked more striking.

Larry Ellison, , It might be old news, but in case you hadn’t heard, the 2nd richest man in the world is a fan of a neatly cropped chevron. Although he’s never been without one, whether it’s in the boardroom or on his 90ft yacht, Mr Ellison’s moustache has been his personal trademark.

Stuart Broad, , A deviation from the rest of the pack, everyone’s favourite fast bowler has gone for a thinly cropped pencil lined moustache. Tidier than the stylings of Beckham, Jackman and Ellison, Broad’s moustache shows that not all men need to throw away the razor and grow a tash the size of a hedge to sharpen themselves up.

Michael Fassbender , , Fresh from his latest brush with mutant mayhem, the brooding half-Irish half-German actor continues to sport his trademark unshaved top lip. Although it’s elegant and striking, with a role lined up in the upcoming adaptation of Assassins Creed, we’re more than curious to see if the famously protective Fassbender will keep his handlebars.
